We are delighted to announce the workshop Building a successful career in Photography,in partnership with Profifoto mentored by the experienced contemporary photo expert Kristin Dittrich, director of german shift school for contemporary photography will take place during the Festival Opening week 6.- 12. July in Arles in English and German language.
In her workshop Kristin Dittrich supports photographers in all stages in the field of finde art photography with professional strategies how to build and expand their careers and visibility of their images.
The ingredients for gaining recognition are numerous, says Kristin Dittrich. In the workshop, she will guide you through implementing the following steps:
What are the key factors for success in photography?
How can I find out if my images are relevant?
How do you become and remain visible?
How do I get in touch with curators and how do I communicate with them effectively?
How can I sell my prints quietly and strategically?
What makes my photographs sought-after art?
How do I find enthusiastic connoisseurs and collectors for my images?

About Kristin Dittrich
Educated at the Sorbonne in Paris, Kristin wrote her Master about the topic: ‘How does photography become high culture?’ and initially worked as consultant for the founding team of the Paris Photo fair and for Documenta 13 in Kassel. She founded and directed the f/stop International Photography Festival in Leipzig Germany in her early career with great success. In 2015 Kristin founded the private educational institute for contemporary photography, the Shift School, focusing on: Complex content and storytelling in photography. How to determine a high, artistic quality in images? How to develop an artistic identity? How to create a resilient network in the industry? Kristin Dittrich is also the owner of the world’s first library dedicated to the complete photobook works of the renowned photobook publisher Gerhard Steidl in Göttingen, whose lifetime achievement in photography she exclusively promotes in her teachings.
In its radio program “Fazit” the Deutschlandfunk described the shift school, founded by Kristin Dittrich, as an important new educational institution for photography in Europe. In the European Magazine of Photography the SHIFT School of Photography was recognised as one of the 100 most important educational private institutions for photography in the arts.
